How about sending your Soul to the Circus?
During the Summer, it was such a treat to travel to Elmore in the Cotswolds and gather with a handful of Grace Lounge Yogis for Soul Circus. I hadn’t heard of the Yoga and Wellness Festival before and I’m so grateful to Grace for introducing me to it, and the opportunity to spend three days, nourishing my spirit, body and mind.
Just as every show in a circus performance offers the audience something different – a chance to be amazed, acts that defy the laws of physics, moments to gasp, scream, laugh – Soul Circus did the same for my soul.
Yoga sessions ran throughout the day, the various tents and tee-pees, filling each hour with men and women brought together with this beautiful, collective aim of nourishing themselves. As I experienced each of the classes, I kept thinking of the incredible teachers at Grace Lounge and how they deserved a spot at this remarkable festival, so I was thrilled when Grace told me that next year the studio will be doing just that!
There was Chakra Yoga, Star Wars Yoga, Power Pilates, Boxing Bootcamp, Aerial Yoga, Meditation sessions, live bands, DJs and more. The food was a perfect balance between taste, temptation and health – you can eat vegan all weekend, from bircher muesli to falafel to ice-cream, or indulge in wood-fired pizza and authentically cooked Tandoori Chicken
When I wasn’t practising yoga, taking the opportunity to try classes I’d never even heard of, I dipped into tee-pees for life-enhancing workshops and talks. You can sip tea and sit with fellow soul developers and learn how to transform the way you think about yourself. Jasmine Hemsley was there, discussing her new Ayurvedic cookbook, the hilarious benefits of tongue scraping and how it helps to imagine your tastebuds as the eyes of the stomach when you are trying to find a way to eat slower.
There were hot tubs overlooking the lake, reiki and massage sessions, palm reading and stalls full of gorgeous yogawear and jewellery. I couldn’t resist buying a silver, OM ring as a memento, which I wear on my thumb, enjoying the added component it brings to my meditation practice.
There was even a wild chocolate tent to gather and, well, drink chocolate and experience your inner wild through an hour of dancing an honouring your unique gifts.
Who wouldn’t want to take their soul to the circus?
